From Clay to Charm: The Story Behind My Handmade Halloween Earrings 🎃💀

This year my studio feels a little extra magical. The shelves fill with tiny pumpkins, grinning skulls, and faces that seem straight out of a Halloween storybook. But instead of candy these treats are made of porcelain clay transformed step by step into the earrings that find their way to you.

It all begins with some simple little balls of porcelain clay each one no bigger than a gumdrop. I roll them in my hands until they’re just right then press them gently into small molds. With each press a new character emerges a jack o' lantern with a cheeky grin a skull decorated with delicate details or a whimsical little face. I carefully wipe away the excess clay then ease each charm out of the mold. That’s when I smooth the edges giving every piece its own personality.

Once the charms are shaped. It’s time for the kiln. The first firing turns them from soft, fragile clay into something sturdy and lasting. After they’ve cooled, the real fun begins glazing. I brush and dip each tiny charm, layering on bright oranges, crisp whites, or soft greens. Then back into the kiln they go for their second firing. Where heat works its magic making the colors shine and the surfaces glossy.

The final step is turning these little works of art into wearable treasures. I carefully attach silver hooks making sure each piece hangs just right.

What I love most about this process is how every pair is slightly different. No two pumpkins grin the same way and no skull has the exact same details. Each one carries the touch of handmade care along with a little spark of Halloween mischief.

So the next time you slip on a pair of my porcelain Halloween earrings. Know that you’re wearing more than jewelry you’re carrying a tiny story.
